The problem
Building and maintaining a school’s master schedule is one of the hardest, least visible jobs in education. A registrar juggles hundreds of students, dozens of teachers, a fixed set of rooms, and a grid of periods that all have to line up perfectly. One small change — a teacher added to a new section, a room reassigned, a student switching tracks — can quietly create a conflict three steps away that nobody notices until the first day of class.
The information to catch those conflicts already exists in the SIS. The trouble is getting to it. Most scheduling questions turn into an export, a pivot table, a color-coded spreadsheet, and an hour you didn’t have. “Which teachers are double-booked in 3rd period?” should take five seconds to answer. Too often it takes an afternoon.
Why nOS exists
We think the people who run a school’s schedule deserve a tool that speaks their language — literally. nOS AI connects to your student information system read-only (or imports a spreadsheet), understands how students, sections, teachers, rooms, and periods relate, and then lets you ask anything in plain English. No query syntax, no exports, no pivot tables. Just the question you’d ask a colleague, answered from your real data.
The goal isn’t to replace your judgment. It’s to give you the facts fast enough that your judgment is the only bottleneck left.
What we believe
Four principles shape every decision we make about the product.
Read-only
nOS reads your schedule to answer questions and surface conflicts. It never writes back to your SIS and never builds the master schedule for you. You stay in control of every decision — we just make the underlying picture clear.
Private
Student data is sensitive, and we treat it that way. Access is single-organization and invite-controlled. SIS connections are read-only. Your conversations and data are isolated to your account and are never used to train models.
Grounded
Every answer comes from your actual data, not a guess. When nOS tells you three teachers are double-booked in 3rd period, it’s because three teachers are double-booked in 3rd period — and it can show you which sections.
It remembers
Scheduling is a season, not a single conversation. nOS saves, summarizes, and makes every chat searchable, so it recalls what you discussed last week and the facts that matter. You never have to re-explain your school to start a new question.
Who it’s for
nOS AI is built for the people who actually own the schedule: registrars, academic deans, and schedulers at independent and private K-12 schools. If you’ve ever rebuilt the same spreadsheet for the third time to answer one question, this is for you.
